2nd Annual American Freedom Festival

April 12, 2011

We’re excited to announce another very special event! Families of our fallen heroes will be honored guests at The 2nd Annual American Freedom Festival aboard the USS Midway in San Diego on May 28th, kicking off Memorial Day weekend. The concert will be held on the flight deck overlooking beautiful San Diego Bay. Kenny Loggins will be performing and our very own Dr. Andy Baldwin will be speaking. As well as receiving VIP tickets to the event, families will be treated to a tour beforehand. This should be amazing as the USS Midway is a spectacular aircraft carrier and a legend in and of itself! This event is made possible by a partnership with the American Freedom Foundation, headed by the wonderful Ted Hacker and SMA (retired) Jack L. Tilley.

If you are a spouse of our fallen please reach out to shanaksmith@yahoo.com for VIP tickets.

Penny Drive supporting Got Your Back Network

March 9, 2011
Barbara Allen’s son Sean and his 4th grade class raised a hundred dollars in a penny drive. They donated the all money to the Got Your Back Network. Roy Baldwin taught the kids about Got Your Back and how we help families of fallen soldiers. This was a very proud moment for Roy and Sean as they got to share their experiences with these wonderful children!

Project Gratitude 2 – Las Vegas, January 2011

March 7, 2011

Twenty bereaved widows and daughters of fallen military members attended the Miss America Finals weekend courtesy of an initiative called Project Gratitude. This was the Second Annual Project Gratitude Event!

The ladies traveled from around the country courtesy of American Airlines to take part in pageant festivities at Planet Hollywood as well the Venetian and a number of special events planned specifically for the women.

The event was the idea of Sharlene Hawkes, ‘Remember My Service’ president and a former Miss America. With the assistance of Darci Hansen, Founder/Editor-In-Chief of Elan Woman magazine, the friends created ‘Project Gratitude.’

The Project Gratitude organizers reached out to Got Your Back Network knowing our military survivors would benefit from a weekend of bonding and sharing a healthy, fun experience. Executive Director of Got Your Back Network, Kathleen Gagg spearheaded this year’s event.
